Automation Technician - £62.6K + Quarterly Bonus - Panama Shifts - Essex

Location: Stanford-le-Hope, Essex
Salary: £62,659 + up to 10% bonus (paid quarterly)
Shifts: Panama pattern (2D, 2O, 3N, 3O, 2D, 3O - repeat, 6am-6pm)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A major international business operating within the infrastructure and logistics sector is seeking two Automation Technicians to join their engineering team at a large-scale, highly automated site in Essex. Working as part of a team responsible for the maintenance and performance of mission-critical automated equipment, this role offers a strong salary package, structured shifts, and excellent long-term development potential.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and maintain automated machinery, including PLCs, drives, and control systems
  • Monitor equipment performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with software backups, version control, and documentation for all automation systems
  • Support the delivery and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve technical issues and optimise system reliability
  • Provide guidance and technical training to junior team members
  • Ensure health & safety compliance and assist with RAMS documentation
Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Electrical or electronic qualification (Level 3 or above)
  • Strong experience with PLC fault-finding, modifications or programming (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell)
  • Knowledge of inverters, drives, motors, and industrial control panels
  • Willingness to work at height and outdoors in a physically active role
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Ability to pass a medical (candidates must be under 130kg due to equipment safety requirements)
