Job summary

adi Automation is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our automation team in Wirral. You will deliver detailed electrical designs and provide technical leadership across industrial projects, supporting delivery from concept to commissioning.

The role requires proficiency with EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical, knowledge of PLCs/HMI/SCADA, and a track record of safe, on-time design work. We offer a range of benefits and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical design within automation or industrial control systems.
• Experience designing complete electrical control systems from concept through to commissioning.
• Ability to interpret client requirements and develop practical engineering solutions from scratch.
• Proficiency with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and motor control systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings using EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Liaise with clients to understand requirements and provide engineering solutions, quotations, and technical proposals.
• Ensure designs are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical standards.
• Support the design and delivery of Control & LV Switchgear Panels and cabling installations.
• Provide technical support throughout project delivery, manufacture, and commissioning.
• Review and approve design submissions to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
• Mentor and support junior engineers where required.
