Job summary

Nottingham Building Society Head Office, Nottingham (Hybrid working, minimum 2 days per week) is seeking a Testing and Quality Engineering Manager to lead our testing function. You will shape strategy, drive automation, and partner with Technology, Delivery and Data to raise quality across platforms.

You'll develop a high-performing team of Test Leads, Analysts and Automation Engineers, oversee capacity and supplier relationships, and report on risks, release readiness and testing effectiveness

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading enterprise testing or quality engineering functions.
• Experience delivering testing transformations and automation programmes.
• Broad testing knowledge across integrated, system, end-to-end, regression, automation and UAT.
• Strong automation, CI/CD, continuous testing and test governance knowledge.
• Strong Agile, DevOps and product-led delivery understanding.
• Strategic and data-driven, with metrics and risk-based decision making.
• Senior stakeholder influence in executive governance forums.
• People leadership with talent development and succession planning.
• Collaborative approach across Technology, Delivery, Data and business teams.
• Continuous improvement mindset focused on innovation and automation.

Responsibilities

• Shape our testing strategy by defining and owning organisation-wide testing and quality engineering strategy.
• Lead our automation journey with an automation-first roadmap to increase coverage and speed.
• Embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle with cross-functional collaboration.
• Modernise testing capability through continuous testing, CI/CD-integrated testing, API testing, performance testing and AI-assisted testing.
• Strengthen testing governance with clear standards, frameworks, controls and measurable quality.
• Lead effective user acceptance testing with enterprise standards and business engagement.
• Develop a high-performing team by coaching Test Leads, Analysts and Automation Engineers.
• Manage capability and capacity including recruitment and supplier relationships.
• Provide clear delivery assurance reporting on quality, risks and release readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and create safer testing functions.
