Job summary

Tatton Recruitment is seeking an Automation Developer for a London-based contract role with hybrid working. The person will build and maintain end-to-end automation pipelines using GitHub Actions, Terraform/OpenTofu, and Ansible Automation Platform. You will support operations, upgrade tooling, and drive security through RBAC and secrets management, while integrating systems via APIs.

The role targets delivery across UK businesses with a potential extension beyond year end.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms and IaC.
• Experience with Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting.
• Knowledge of RBAC, secrets management and pipeline hardening.
• Experience with REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Azure cloud and cloud-native automation familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain end-to-end automation pipelines with GitHub Actions, Terraform/OpenTofu, and Ansible Platform.
• Manage lifecycle of automation tooling, upgrades and retirement of legacy systems.
• Provide operational support, monitoring and break/fix across automation estate.
• Develop IaC solutions for scalable deployments.
• Build and maintain Ansible playbooks and automation frameworks.
• Apply security best practices across platforms and pipelines.
• Integrate automation with enterprise systems using APIs and webhooks.
• Create reusable templates and standards for consistency.
• Produce technical documentation and procedures.
• Offer guidance to teams adopting automation capabilities.

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms, ideally GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners.
• Proven experience developing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Expertise with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and/or AWX, including playbook development and orchestration design.
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Python and Bash.
• Experience operating and supporting automation platforms within production environments.
• Solid understanding of automation and CI/CD security best practices, including RBAC, secrets management, and pipeline hardening.
• Experience integrating systems using REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services and cloud-native automation approaches.

Responsibilities:
