What You’ll Be Doing

As an Automation Control Engineer, reporting to the Head of Electrical, you will manage the daily maintenance of the cement plant control and software systems to ensure high programming integrity. You will also be responsible for the safe modification and maintenance of plant automation and control systems, ensuring robust specifications, application programming, testing, and commissioning.

Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Preventing downtime due to control system faults
• Supporting the installation of new plant equipment from conception to operation
• Integrating new systems into plant operations
• Assisting the Head of Electrical in developing, reviewing, and implementing control system Standard Operating Procedures
• Ensuring a robust risk assessment process exists to understand necessary control measures
• Developing server virtualization to assist with testing program modifications
• Managing new CAPEX projects and supporting their commissioning
• Managing control and software systems using a continuous improvement methodology

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you will:

• Hold a minimum qualification of Electrical Engineering HNC or equivalent
• Have experience with PLC Programming and DCS Systems
• Develop close working relationships with control room operators to assist with system control issues
• Demonstrate a commitment to safety policies in all work environments
• Communicate effectively and liaise with other departments to form cross-functional links
