Job summary

MEG Derby in the East Midlands is seeking a hands-on production operator for the pallet mixing area. You will set up, run, and monitor automated sections, ensuring safety and hygiene standards are met.

Role requires 12-hour shifts, 40 hours per week, with emphasis on precise logging and continuous improvement within a Lean environment. Full training provided and permanent contract from 1 July 2026.

Qualifications

Production experience in FMCG manufacturing.
Safety-first approach and knowledge of health and safety legislation.
Knowledge of 5S methodology for workplace organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong digital literacy to pick up new software quickly.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and monitor pallet mixing area according to customer specs.
Monitor SAP ERP and DMC systems and ensure automated sections run smoothly.
Maintain Clean-as-you-go standard per food hygiene procedures.
Accurately log production outputs, downtime, and quality checks using interfaces and checksheets.
Engage in Lean Manufacturing through 5S and Kaizen initiatives.
Adhere to lock-out procedures and conduct safety and quality inspections.
Mentor new recruits and demonstrate SOPs and best practices.

Job description

WHAT YOU DO

Setting up, operating, and monitoring the pallet mixing area, including removing shrink-wrap from finished goods and reassembling pallets with mixed products according to customer specifications.
Monitoring the SAP ERP and DMC systems and making sure the automated sections of the pallet mixing area are running smoothly.
Maintaining a strict "Clean-as-you-go" standard in accordance with food hygiene and safety procedures.
Accurately logging production outputs, downtime reasons, and quality checks using digital interfaces and manual checksheets.
Contributing actively to a Lean Manufacturing environment through 5S workplace organization and Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to lock-out procedures while also conducting regular visual and technical quality assurance inspections.
Guiding and mentoring new recruits as a buddy to demonstrate standard operating procedures and best practices.

WHO YOU ARE

You bring solid production experience, ideally within the fast-moving consumer goods manufacturing sector.
Demonstrating a safety-first approach and familiarity with health and safety legislation is essential to your daily routine.
Knowledge of 5S methodology allows you to effectively organize and optimize your workspace.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills enable you to relay technical information clearly and document events thoroughly.
