Job summary

Olleco, a UK-based food packaging company, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to service the fresh oil packing line and related equipment. You will diagnose electrical, mechanical and pneumatic faults, perform PLC fault-finding, and support line changeovers and commissioning with a focus on safety and quality.

The role requires experience in automated manufacturing, NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds, and 18th Edition electrical qualification.

Qualifications

• Mechanical, electrical or multi-skilled engineering qualification with City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Ideally apprentice-trained, with experience in an automated, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• 18th Edition (or equivalent) electrical qualification.
• Experience working with PLCs, motors, drives, sensors and automated packaging or production machinery.
• Experience of planned and reactive maintenance in a manufacturing environment (food, FMCG, packaging, filling or similar preferred).
• Experience of using a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) desirable.
• Knowledge of pneumatics and high-speed packing/filling equipment desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on the fresh oil packing line and related equipment (fillers, cappers, checkweighers, printers, conveyors, palletisers and associated automation).
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automation faults quickly to minimise production losses.
• Perform first-line PLC and control system fault-finding (programming not required).
• Support line changeovers, installations, commissioning and continuous improvement activities on packing equipment.
• Maintain accurate records in the maintenance management system and manage critical spares for the packing line.
• Ensure all work is carried out to high Health & Safety standards and in compliance with relevant legislation and BRCGS food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Provide Mechanical and Electrical support across the wider site as required.
• Communicate maintenance progress and equipment status to colleagues and shift teams.
