Job summary

Axcis Education in North Birmingham is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-16 with ASC and additional needs. This role involves 1:1 and small-group support to help students access the curriculum and reach individual targets.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Autism, SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or challenging behaviour.
• Experience in education, youth work, residential care or similar settings.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Available to work full-time, Monday to Friday.

Location: North Birmingham Pay: £92.63 per day Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4:00pm) Start Date: Immediate

Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEND school in North Birmingham. This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional needs, including ADHD, SEMH needs, attachment difficulties, communication challenges, and behavioural difficulties. The school provides a structured and supportive environment where students are encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally while building the skills needed for greater independence. This position is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Autism Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or Care Worker looking to progress their career within SEND education.

The Role

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or challenging behaviour.
• Experience within education, youth work, residential care, support work, or similar settings.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
• Confidence supporting students with a range of communication and learning needs.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Availability to work full‑time, Monday to Friday.
