Job summary

Meadowcroft School in Wakefield, part of Outcomes First Group, is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism and additional learning needs. This role involves working closely with experienced teachers, therapists and a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive.

You will help deliver personalised learning, support IEPs and BSPs, and contribute to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND or additional learning needs (desirable).
  • Is patient, caring and passionate about helping every child succeed.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Is resilient, adaptable and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is proactive, organised and eager to learn.
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils one-to-one, in small groups and in the classroom to help learning goals.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning experiences.
  • Encourage pupils' communication, confidence, emotional wellbeing and independence.
  • Assist with IEPs, BSPs, and personalised learning strategies.
  • Create positive relationships that help pupils feel safe and valued.
  • Support pupils during outdoor learning, visits and enrichment activities.
  • Prepare learning resources and adapt activities to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the multidisciplinary team for best outcomes.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
