Job summary

Five Education are seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils in schools around Shipham near Cheddar, with a focus on autism. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, helping children engage with learning activities and daily routines while promoting communication, independence and positive behaviour.

The role requires calm, patient, nurturing approach, adaptability to individual needs and solid safeguarding awareness.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism (professional or personal).
• Understand safeguarding and child welfare.
• Experience in a school or SEND setting preferred, but a positive attitude and right approach are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with autism, 1:1 or in small groups.
• Help pupils engage with learning activities and daily routines.
• Encourage communication, independence and positive behaviour.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff.
