Job summary

The Springfields Academy (North Site) in Calne is seeking an Autism Support Worker to assist teachers in delivering an autism-friendly curriculum and supporting pupils with autism and their families. The role focuses on academic and social skills within a personalised approach.

The successful candidate will work 31.25 hours per week, term-time only, Monday to Friday, with a supportive environment and opportunities for professional development within Reach South Academy Trust.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge and understanding of autism and social communication needs and appropriate strategies (e.g. TEACCH).
  • Understanding of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs affecting development.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
  • Resilience and ability to take responsibility for learning activities.
  • Promote and support inclusion of all pupils in learning and social activities.
  • Use positive and personalised anxiety management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the teacher to deliver a personalised autism-friendly academic and social skills curriculum.
  • Assist with implementing functional skills at home and in the community.
  • Lead interventions and support learners with autism.
  • Engage with families to support pupil progress.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
