Job summary

The Springfields Academy in Calne is seeking an Autism Support Worker to work with teachers to deliver a personalised autism-friendly curriculum and social skills program. You will also support families to apply functional skills at home and in the community, ensuring every pupil progresses with confidence.

We are looking for compassionate individuals who understand autism, social communication needs, and mental health considerations, and who can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge and understanding of autism and social communication needs and strategies (e.g. TEACCH).
  • Knowledge of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs affecting development.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families.
  • Resilient and able to take responsibility for agreed learning activities.
  • Promote and support inclusion of all pupils in learning and social activities.
  • Experience or understanding of personalised anxiety management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead interventions and support learners with autism alongside teachers.
  • Deliver a personalised autism-friendly academic and social skills curriculum.
  • Support families to implement functional skills at home and in the community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to continually develop pupils' skills and independence.
  • Contribute to a caring, vibrant school community in Calne.
