Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism in Royston. The role involves 1:1 and group support, helping learners access education and develop communication skills in a safe, nurturing environment.

Ideal candidates have experience with Autism and strong communication, with training opportunities and ongoing consultant support offered for long-term placements.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with Autism.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
• Experience with PECS, Makaton, sensory support or communication aids would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism.
• Supporting the delivery of personalised learning programmes.
• Assisting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Promoting positive behaviour through consistent strategies and routines.
• Supporting sensory needs and helping pupils manage transitions throughout the school day.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
• Recording progress and contributing to pupil reviews where required.
