Job summary

UKCIL Ltd. in Bristol is seeking a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner (Bank) to support one autistic man with mild learning difficulties in the Bristol area. You will work to understand his needs and help him engage with the community.

You will provide social and emotional support, accompany him on countryside walks, and collaborate with his family and the PBS team. Ongoing training and supervision are provided to ensure high-quality care and practitioner development.

Qualifications

• At least one year’s experience of supporting or teaching individuals with emotional or social functioning difficulties (e.g., autism).
• Experience with behaviours of concern in personal or professional settings.
• Good communication and team working skills.
• Personal qualities: empathy, patience, reliability, mindfulness, adaptability and emotional resilience.

Responsibilities

• Listen, understand and empathise with the client.
• Support the client to articulate thoughts, feelings, needs and preferences.
• Support walks in the countryside and community activities; occasional trips to shops or facilities.
• Drive or navigate journeys to activities and manage transport.
• Support engaging in home activities (gardening, maintenance, cooking, leisure).
• Work with the team and family to follow care plans for consistent support.
• Provide calm emotional support and, where needed, trained intervention in distress.
• Record important information and communicate across the team.
• Protect confidentiality and privacy of the client and family.
• Attend training and supervision sessions to improve care and wellbeing.
