Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma required and ability to obtain clearances (Act 34, Act 114, Act 151).
• Experience working with children, especially in special education, preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist a special education teacher or student in maintaining a quality learning environment.
• Support positive behaviors and implement behavioural management procedures.
• Collect data on student progress and communicate academic needs to the teacher.
• Assist with health-related tasks such as feeding or bathroom support as needed.
• Perform routine classroom tasks to enable the teacher to focus on educational plans.
