Job summary

Groveside School in Reading is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition and additional needs. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, engaging learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

The role offers a permanent contract with term-time considerations, 37.5 hours per week, and a salary of £22,160.62 per year (not pro rata).

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or adults with Autism or additional needs is desirable but not essential.
• Caring, patient and resilient with a calm and positive approach.
• Excellent communicator and able to work as part of a supportive team.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils one-to-one, in small groups and in the classroom to access learning and achieve individual goals.
• Deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences alongside teachers.
• Encourage pupils’ communication, emotional wellbeing, independence and social development.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
• Support the development and implementation of IEPs, BSPs, Communication Profiles and personalised learning strategies.
• Promote positive behaviour using restorative approaches.
• Prepare learning resources and help create stimulating, structured learning environments.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families and the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes.
• Support educational visits and wider school life as required.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
