Job summary

Protocol Education are recruiting for an Autism Support Assistant at a specialist SEND school in Grays, with immediate start.

You will support pupils with SEND, including ASC and SLCN, 1:1 or in small groups, helping access the curriculum and develop communication and confidence.

The role requires empathy, patience, adaptability and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families; safeguarding training and a DBS check apply.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Understanding of Autism and communication difficulties.
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable.
  • Confident supporting pupils with learning difficulties and additional needs.
  • Genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Develop communication skills and build confidence academically and socially.
  • Provide 1:1 support or support in small groups with tailored strategies.
