Job summary

Remedy Tutoring is looking for an experienced Autism Specialist Tutor to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder across South London and surrounding areas. You will deliver personalised one-to-one tuition, adapt methods for communication differences, and use visual supports to aid engagement.

The role requires a calm, patient approach, with a minimum of 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience.
PGCE or QTS is desirable.
Proven experience working with autistic children and young people.
Good understanding of autism including communication differences, sensory sensitivities, and predictable routines.
Experience using visual timetables, visual supports and structured teaching approaches.
Ability to adapt lessons for students working below age-related expectations or with additional learning needs.
Experience supporting non-speaking students or those with complex communication needs is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

Deliver personalised one-to-one tuition tailored to each student's learning needs, interests and targets.
Support students across core subjects such as English, Maths and Science, depending on qualifications.
Use visual timetables, visual prompts, structured routines and clear instructions to aid understanding.
Adapt teaching methods to accommodate communication differences and sensory needs.
Provide support for non-speaking students using communication aids and established systems.
Identify gaps in learning and progress at the student’s current level.
Collaborate with parents, schools and professionals to maintain consistency.
