Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex autism and additional needs in Southport. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping with communication and sensory needs while building strong relationships with pupils and staff.

The ideal candidate will have SEND experience in a school or specialist setting, be calm, patient and resilient, and possess excellent communication and teamwork with teachers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex autism.
• SEND experience within a school or specialist setting.
• Calm, patient and resilient under pressure.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils with complex autism and additional needs
• Managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
• Supporting communication, emotional regulation and sensory needs
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Working closely with teachers and specialist staff
• Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
