Job summary

Zest Education is assisting a brand-new specialist school in St Albans for pupils aged 5-16 with ASD and SEMH. We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to support students with ASC/SEMH in small classes of 4-6, providing tailored support, and working closely with teachers and therapists.

This term-time, full-time role (8:30am–4pm) offers temp-to-perm opportunities. The school provides a nurturing environment, comprehensive training, and pathways to permanent contracts for the right people.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND settings OR transferable skills (care, youth work, psychology, sports coaching, etc.).
• A patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
• Ability to commit to full-time hours preferred, though part-time days may be considered.
• Desire to build long-term relationships with pupils and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with Autism (ASD) and SEMH needs.
• Working within small classes of 4-6 students.
• Providing tailored support based on experience and strengths.
• Assisting with learning activities, emotional regulation and social development.
• Some personal care may be required - training and support provided.
• Collaborating with teachers and therapists to create a positive, structured learning environment.
