Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD) in Poole is seeking a Band 5 Senior Assistant Psychologist for the Community Paediatric Service. The role focuses on ASD pathways, working with young people and families, and coordinating information within a multidisciplinary team to support assessment and planning.

Under supervision of the Clinical Psychologist, you will train and support families, act as a liaison across services, and ensure timely communication throughout the patient

Qualifications

• Upper Second or First class psychology degree from a BPS-accredited course.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Experience of working with young people and families in a community setting.
• Desirable: postgraduate qualification in a clinical subject.
• Strong communication and organisational skills required.

Responsibilities

• Support the ASD pathway by training, supporting and advising families during assessment.
• Act as a single point of contact for families to keep them informed and provide practical tips while awaiting assessment or referrals.
• Assist clinicians with assessments under supervision of the Lead Clinical Psychologist.
• Signpost families to Early Help Services across Dorset.
• Collate and share up-to-date local and national information on community and digital resources for ASD.
• Support families who do not get a diagnosis but have ongoing support needs and facilitate referrals to other services.
