Job summary

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Assistant Psychologist to join the Adult Autism Service in the Autism Diagnostic Team at Sidcup. The role focuses on assisting with diagnostic assessments and neurodevelopmental interviews for adults with suspected autism, many with complex mental health needs.

The post offers the chance to develop highly specialized skills in autism assessment under a clinical psychologist and MDT, with opportunities for involvement in training and service development

Responsibilities

• Assist in formulation and delivery of diagnostic assessments for people with suspected Autism without Learning Disabilities and with complex mental health and psychiatric disorders; support delivery of neurodevelopmental clinical interviews and developmental histories, draft specialist reports, and support formulation and outcome within diagnosis.
• Provide person-centered, evidence-based assessment, support and intervention to adults with autism at risk of acute care admission under supervision of a clinical psychologist and MDT.
• Liaise with Community Mental Health and acute care teams to support care in community settings under supervision of a psychologist.
• Screen referral information to support clinical eligibility decisions within the service.
• Assist in coordination and running of Autism specialist training.
• Contribute to development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care across settings.
