Job summary

Academics in West Drayton is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school, supporting children and young people with Autism and severe learning difficulties. The role involves assisting pupils in class and during activities, under the guidance of senior staff.

The successful candidate will bring experience with ASC/SLD, a calm, caring approach, strong teamwork, and commitment to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Significant experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or severe learning difficulties.
• Understanding of SEN strategies, including visual timetables, sensory approaches and AAC.
• Calm, caring and consistent approach to supporting pupils.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection within specialist settings.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with ASC and severe learning difficulties in lessons and activities.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to implement SEN strategies and individual plans.
