Tradewind Recruitment LTD. in Northampton seeks an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist setting supporting pupils with autism and complex needs. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, using PECS, Makaton and visual aids to facilitate communication. The role may involve personal care and helping pupils regulate emotions, while building trusting relationships with staff and pupils to meet individual needs. The position is full-time and long-term.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with autism and complex needs.
• Ability to support non-verbal or limited-communication pupils.
• Experience with personal care is desirable.
• Knowledge of PECS and/or Makaton is highly beneficial.
• Calm, patient and adaptable approach in a specialist setting.

Responsabilités

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with autism and complex needs.
• Support pupils who may be non-verbal or have limited communication.
• Use PECS, Makaton, and visual supports for communication.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and behaviour when dysregulated.
• Support pupils to access learning and engage in school activities.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and work with staff to meet needs.
