A community support organization is seeking an Autism Care Assistant to work part-time with a young gentleman in Alnwick. You will support him with social activities and promote his independence in a caring and patient manner. The ideal candidate will have a background in health and social care, a calm and reliable nature, and preference will be given to car drivers. This role involves flexible hours, primarily in the afternoons, with a pay rate of £13.74 per hour.
A young man in the Alnwick area is looking to recruit an enabler for 5 hours a week during the afternoons to support him in and around his local community. The family are looking for an enabler to support this young man with socialising and accessing the local community, and take a person‑centred approach to any activities this young man chooses to engage in.
He likes to look around the game shops, go to the cinema, eat out at a cafe/restaurant as well as play on his PlayStation and Xbox consoles, he loves Doctor Who and enjoys going to Comiccon conventions and museums. He also enjoys going bowling.
Main Duties: To support a young gentleman who has a learning disability to promote independence, communication skills and fitness, mainly in the Alnwick area, while acting as a 'support buddy', encouraging his interests while taking a person‑centred approach. The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission.
Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid‑19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.
Personal Specification: Car driver preferred.
Hours and Rate if Pay: 5 hours a week @ £13.74 per hour.
Days and times to be discussed at interview preferably afternoons from 1pm.
Further Information: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense).
Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend. This will include moving and handling, medication awareness and additional training specific to the client.
