The role requires an Evangelical Christian with initiative, strong organisational, communication and project-management skills to coordinate translations, fundraising and author support
We are seeking an evangelical Christian with initiative, good administrative skills and the ability to get things done to help develop the global reach of the book God’s Big Picture by Vaughan Roberts.
This is a fixed-term contract of two years.
Applicants are invited to indicate any adjustments that would help them apply for the role, which could be carried out in-person in Oxford or remotely.
God’s Big Picture is a Bible overview book, which aims to help the reader see the overarching story of the Bible and how it all points to Jesus Christ and his gospel. Since its publication in 2003 it has remained constantly in print in the Englishspeaking world through its British and American editions (IVP and IVP USA). It has also been translated into almost 30 languages.
In 2016 Vaughan Roberts, in partnership with Clayton TV, developed a 9-part video course based on the book, which is freely available online. A version of this is also available in French.
The big vision is not to promote a particular book or author, but to introduce more Christians worldwide to biblical theology for God’s glory and the good of his church. An understanding of the big picture of the Bible and how it all focuses on the gospel of Christ is still lacking, or at best very confused, in much of the global church, including in many church groupings in the West. God’s Big Picture is one of a number of resources which seeks to change that.
By the Lord’s grace the book and the course have gone far and wide all over the world without planning or marketing. As the 25th anniversary of the book’s publication approaches, we now wish to be more strategic in thinking about how we might help facilitate the spread of these resources more widely and effectively. The Author Assistant will play a key role in this process.
The selection procedure for the post will follow a process of shortlisting, taking up references, and then interviews. Any offer will be subject to us completing the Church of England Safer Recruitment process. If you have any questions or would like an informal conversation, please contact Alyson Grove (alyson.grove@stabbes.org).
