About the Role

The Authorised Officer (AO) – Grain & Feed is responsible for conducting inspection, verification and certification activities under the Export Control Act 2020 and the Export Control (Grain and Plant Products) Rules 2021.

  • Assess and approve containers, silos and transport vehicles for cleanliness, hygiene and pest‑free status.

  • Verify loads against export documentation (weights, seals, identification).

  • Ensure compliance with DAFF/AQIS standards and importing country requirements.

  • Issue phytosanitary certificates, export permits and related documentation via NEXDOC/EXDOC.

Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Support Registered Establishment export compliance program.

  • Identify non‑conformances and assist with audits and DAFF inspections.

  • Maintain detailed records and ensure traceability throughout the process.

Logistics Coordination
  • Work closely with production, dispatch, weighbridge and logistics teams to schedule inspections.

  • Verify container bookings, transport documents and shipment details.

  • Assist with loading supervision and dispatch planning.

Operational Support
  • Assist with loading and handling of grain/feed consignments (as trained).

  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in inspection and loading areas.

  • Assist with sample collection, quality checks and moisture testing.

Site Biosecurity & Safety

  • Report hazards, spills, contamination, pest detections or incidents immediately.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory
  • Current Authorised Officer accreditation for Grain & Plant Products and/or Feed Commodities under the Export Control Act.

  • Strong understanding of export inspection, certification requirements and regulatory obligations.

Desirable
  • Experience in an AQIS/DAFF‑registered export establishment.

  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, ISO 9001 or Feed Safe programs.

  • Experience in grain handling, milling, logistics or feed manufacturing.

Skills & Attributes
