Job summary

ProTalent is seeking an Audit Senior in Shrewsbury for a role with flexible working. You’ll own day-to-day audit assignments across a mixed portfolio including owner-managed businesses, charities, FCA clients, and manufacturing. You’ll lead fieldwork on site and mentor trainees, handing over files ready for review.

This is a progression-focused position with potential for Audit Client Manager; the firm offers a strong benefits package, support, and a varied portfolio rather than routine clients.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or finalist with solid audit experience.
• Two to three years' external audit experience in UK practice.
• Confident running your own fieldwork.
• Good with FRS 102 and the Charities SORP.

There is a point in an audit career where you stop being told what to do on a job and start being the one running it. This role sits exactly there.

An established independent firm in Shrewsbury is looking for an Audit Senior to take day-to-day ownership of audit assignments across a genuinely mixed portfolio. Owner-managed businesses, groups, charities, FCA-regulated clients, solicitors, manufacturing and agri-business all sit within the client base, so no two jobs look quite the same.

You will be leading fieldwork, acting as the main point of contact while you are on site, and handing over a file that is ready for manager review. Trainees will be working alongside you, and part of the role is bringing them on.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Leading audit fieldwork from planning through to completion
• Preparing draft statutory accounts and corporation tax computations
• Being the client's day-to-day contact during the audit
• Reviewing and coaching trainees on the job
• Spotting issues early and dealing with them, rather than passing them up unopened

WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or a finalist with solid audit experience behind you
• Two to three years' external audit experience in UK practiceConfident running your own fieldwork
• Good with FRS 102, and happy to pick up specialist frameworks like the Charities SORP
