Qualified Audit Senior

£40,000–£45,000 Depending On Experience

About the Firm

This is a small but highly regarded independent accountancy practice employing fewer than 20 people. Its reputation has been built on long-standing client relationships, high-quality work and a supportive team culture.

The firm was among the first practices in the region to adopt genuinely flexible and hybrid working. This is not simply a benefit introduced following the pandemic: trust and autonomy have long been central to the way the firm operates.

Modern, cloud-based technology is used throughout the practice, and employees are encouraged to contribute ideas and influence how the firm develops. You will have meaningful responsibility, direct access to decision-makers and clear opportunities for further progression.

The Role

This opportunity would suit an ACA- or ACCA-qualified Audit Senior who can take day-to-day ownership of audit assignments while continuing to develop towards management.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Working across a varied portfolio of audit assignments for owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
  • Planning, leading and completing audits, with manager oversight and final review.
  • Managing assignments from initial planning through fieldwork to completion.
  • Identifying and communicating audit issues clearly and promptly.
  • Building trusted, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Keeping managers and partners informed of progress throughout each assignment.
  • Supervising, supporting and developing junior members of the audit team.
  • Reviewing work and helping to maintain consistently high audit standards.
  • Contributing positively to the firm’s service delivery, quality and client experience.
  • Assisting with statutory accounts and corporation tax computations where appropriate.
About You
  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Have substantial audit experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Be confident leading audit assignments with an appropriate level of manager oversight.
  • Have experience of auditing medium-sized companies under FRS 102.
  • Be experienced in working under a substantive audit approach.
  • Communicate confidently with clients, colleagues, managers and partners.
  • Be able to organise your own workload and ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrate strong technical ability, attention to detail and professional judgement.
  • Be comfortable supervising and supporting more junior colleagues.
  • Be ambitious and interested in progressing within a growing audit department.
  • Enjoy working within an independent practice where initiative and individual contribution are valued.

Experience of preparing statutory accounts and corporation tax computations would be advantageous but is not essential.

What Is on Offer
  • Salary of £40,000–£45,000, depending on experience.
  • Private healthcare.
  • Generous hybrid and home-working arrangements.
  • A genuine and structured progression path.
  • A close-knit and supportive team.
  • Direct exposure to managers, partners and clients.
  • The opportunity to influence how the audit department develops.
  • A modern and forward-thinking working environment.
