Job description

Audit Senior (open to varying levels of experience)
Kettering (onsite – required to live local to Kettering)
Fulltime Monday – Friday
£30,000 - £40,000 DOE


We’re working with one of the largest UK payroll providers, a leading firm of Accountants and Business Advisers operating across the UK, Ireland, and the Nordics. They are expanding their services and require a number of professionals with Audit & Assurance across multiple sites up and down the UK.

Role:

The Audit Senior is responsible for leading and managing audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries. This role involves planning, executing, and completing audit fieldwork according to the established timelines. The Audit Senior will also play a critical role in mentoring junior staff and maintaining strong client relationships.

Audit Planning and Execution:
  1. Lead audit engagements from planning through completion.
  2. Develop audit plans, including risk assessments and audit procedures.
  3. Ensure audits are conducted in accordance with auditing standards and firm policies.
  4. Conduct fieldwork, including substantive testing and evaluation of internal controls.

Financial Reporting:
  1. Review financial statements and related disclosures for compliance with GAAP, IFRS, or other applicable accounting standards.
  2. Identify and communicate accounting and auditing issues to senior management.

Client Relationship Management:
  1. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  2. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their business and industry.
  3. Provide value-added insights and recommendations to clients.

Staff Supervision and Development:
  1. Supervise, train, and mentor junior audit staff.
  2. Review work of junior auditors and provide constructive feedback.
  3. Assist in the evaluation of staff performance.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  1. Ensure audit documentation is complete and complies with quality control standards.
  2. Stay updated on changes in auditing standards, regulations, and industry practices.

Other Duties:
  1. Participate in firm-wide initiatives and projects as needed.
  2. Assist in business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations.

Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  2. ACA/ACCA/CA or equivalent qualified (part qualified considered).
  3. Minimum of 3-5 years of audit experience in an accountancy firm.
  4. Strong understanding and working knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
  5. Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
