Audit & Risk Assurance Committee Member (Energy)

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is responsible for delivering energy supply security, ensuring functioning energy markets, promoting energy efficiency, and leading in green industries. DESNZ leads the Prime Minister's Clean Energy Superpower Mission, focusing on Clean Power by 2030 and accelerating to net zero.

The Departmental Board, chaired by the Secretary of State, sets the vision and policies. Non-Executive Board Members advise on strategy and priorities.

The Audit and Risk Assurance Committee (ARAC) supports the Board and the Accounting Officer in ensuring DESNZ's financial soundness, resource efficiency, and effective risk management and governance.

The Role - DESNZ ARAC Members

Members advise on risk management and internal controls, shaping departmental strategy on key challenges.

Integrated Corporate Services ARAC

This committee supports the ICS Oversight Board and Managing Director, reviewing governance, risk, and financial integrity for shared services across multiple departments.

The Role - ICS ARAC Chair

The Chair ensures ICS's financial and operational efficiency aligned with strategic objectives.

The Candidate

Candidates should have extensive experience in risk, performance, and financial management, with strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Experience in large, complex organizations in the public, private, or voluntary sectors is essential. Knowledge of energy, net zero, or regulated industries is desirable, along with an understanding of shared services and the political context.
