An established and growing accountancy and business advisory firm is looking to appoint an Audit Manager to join its specialist Banking & Lending team in London.

The firm works with a broad range of middle‑market businesses and is continuing to invest in its audit offering across the banking, building society and lending sectors, covering both regulated and unregulated lenders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Audit Manager with strong IFRS 9 expertise to take ownership of a varied portfolio of lending clients, lead complex audit engagements and play a key role in the continued development of a growing specialist service line.

Alongside managing client relationships and delivering high-quality audits, you'll have the opportunity to develop junior talent, contribute to technical initiatives and support the team's wider business development ambitions.

What you will be doing as an Audit Manager in Banking
  • Managing a portfolio of statutory audits for clients across the lending sector, ensuring assignments are delivered to a high standard and in line with relevant procedures and quality requirements.
  • Leading audit teams, allocating work, briefing staff and providing ongoing coaching, feedback and technical support.
  • Managing client relationships, liaising with senior stakeholders and resolving complex audit matters.
  • Attending and presenting at client audit committee meetings and board meetings where required.
  • Supporting business development activity, including identifying opportunities, scoping engagements and contributing to client pitches.
  • Playing an active role in recruitment, team development and sector-specific training.
  • Working closely with national technical and training teams to enhance audit methodologies, particularly in relation to IFRS 9 and other technical matters affecting lenders.
  • Contributing to the development and growth of the firm's Banking & Lending audit offering.
What you will need to succeed as an Audit Manager in Banking
  • ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience operating at Audit Manager level within practice.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS 9, particularly the accounting and auditing of expected credit losses (ECL).
  • Practical experience auditing ECL models across retail and consumer lending products, such as mortgages, personal loans, credit cards and consumer finance.
  • Experience working with clients in banking, commercial finance or retail finance.
  • The ability to assess and enhance audit approaches and methodologies relating to IFRS 9.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of managing teams and delivering complex audit assignments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to build relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach and an interest in developing people, improving processes and contributing to business growth.
Why join this firm?
  • The opportunity to join an established firm with ambitious growth plans in the Banking & Lending sector.
  • A varied portfolio of specialist financial services audit clients.
  • Hybrid working, combining time in the London office with client-site visits.
  • Clear opportunities for career progression and ongoing professional development.
  • 27 days' annual leave, with the option to purchase additional days.
  • A comprehensive wellbeing package, including financial wellbeing tools, an electric car scheme and access to a virtual GP.
  • Access to more than 300 on-demand learning and development courses.
  • A supportive working environment that encourages internal progression and takes an active interest in employees' career aspirations.
