Job summary

LHH is seeking an experienced Audit Manager for a leading independent firm across the North West, based in Liverpool. The role targets progression to RI status by understudying the current management team and leading the audit offering for SME/OMB and not-for-profit clients.

The successful candidate will manage audits from planning to completion, supervise 3–4 team members, and play a key part in business development and quality control processes within the firm.

Qualifications

• High level familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards.
• Experience in general practice or SME/owner-managed client work.
• Proven ability to manage multiple audits and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to audit quality and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver audit engagements from planning through to completion.
• Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients including not-for-profit and SME/OMB businesses.
• Directly line manage 3–4 team members.
• Play an active role in business development, including pitches, tenders and opportunity identification.
• Assist with the firm's Audit Quality Control process.

Our client, a leading independent firm across the North West are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join their established and growing practice. The role is best suited to someone who is not only technically highly proficient but also engaged, confident and commercially minded, with a genuine interest in client relationships and business development. The role is pitched at Manager level with short term progression to RI status, understudying the existing management team with the aim to lead the audit offering of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver audit engagements from planning through to completion
• Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients including not for profit and SME/owner managed businesses and professional practices
• Directly line manage 3-4 team members

Play an active role in business development, including:

• Involvement in pitches and tenders
• Identifying opportunities within existing client relationships
• Developing commercial confidence and visibility within the firm
• Ad hoc non audit related projects, including due diligence work and problem solving accounting issues
• Assisting with the firm's Audit Quality Control process

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• High level familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards
• Background in general practice
• Experience managing multiple audits and deadlines concurrently
• Commitment to audit quality and attention to detail
• Experience of managing SRA Accounts Rules Reviews would be an advantage, but not mandatory
