About the Audit Trainee role

Our Letchworth office is ideally looking for a school/college leaver or university graduate to join them as an Audit Trainee.
With a keen interest in accounting and audit, you will be committed to studying, either starting with AAT or straight onto ACA.
Brief description of the role
We are looking for someone who is up for a challenge, is well organised, accurate, enjoys working as part of a team and is great at building relationships. You will be primarily responsible for assisting audit seniors in the planning and completion of audit work and to assist on audit fieldwork on a variety of clients. It is anticipated that you will study for a professional qualification whilst working in the audit department. This study will be paid for by TC Group, and you will be provided with external tutoring as part of a student training contract with TC Group.
Key responsibilities of an Audit Trainee will include:
- checking a client's financial information, purchase and sales invoices.
- controls review and walkthrough testing.
- calculating sample sizes, and choosing samples for audit testing.
- checking bank balances and bank statements.
- performing bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations as appropriate.
- reviewing client payroll records for accuracy.
- ensure sound knowledge of a client and its industry by researching background of clients and other useful information.
- attend stock takes at client sites.
- develop and apply technical knowledge gained from studies and on the job experience and suggest improvements to
- existing systems and processes.
- respond to client enquiries in line with company policy.
- being able to communicate at all levels
- contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- dealing with general office admin and emails when required.
- working as a team to continuously deliver the agreed level of service.
About youWe are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- minimum 5 GCSE's grade B/6 and above 3 A level's with a minimum of 3 B's or equivalent.
- an interest in accounting and studying for an accountancy qualification
- enthusiastic, self-motivated and self-responsible
- able to work quickly and accurately under pressure
- an eye for detail
- an ability to work to deadlines
- an ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
- good computer skills, outlook, excel and word
- an ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English
