Job summary

Butler Rose Ltd. in Norwich is seeking an experienced Audit Associate to join a Top 10 accounting firm. The role offers ownership of smaller audits while supporting seniors on larger engagements, with exposure to a varied client base and a supportive team environment.

Requirements include ACA/ACCA/AAT part-qualification (or equivalent experience) and at least two years’ audit experience in a UK practice. Hybrid working options are available.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or AAT part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
• Minimum of two years' experience working in an audit environment within a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience auditing clients across a variety of industries.
• Working knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and Auditing Standards.
• Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, audit testing assertions and standard audit procedures.
• Experience completing more complex audit testing with appropriate supervision.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage audit assignments effectively.
• Good communication and client relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek appropriate support.
• Experience coaching or mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Complete audit fieldwork, including planned substantive and analytical audit procedures, both in the office and at client premises where required.
• Take responsibility for delivering individual sections of audit assignments under appropriate senior supervision.
• Plan and complete audit assignments, ensuring files contain appropriate and sufficient documentation.
• Take ownership of smaller audit assignments with support from a manager.
• Support Seniors and Assistant Managers on larger and more complex assignments.
• Prepare statutory financial statements from client data.
• Identify and highlight high-level risks and matters of concern to the Partner or Manager.
• Complete more complex audit testing across areas including investments and related parties.
• Apply relevant audit assertions, testing procedures and accounting principles.
• Work towards the successful delivery of audit assignments within agreed revenue and profitability targets.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Participate in local networking and business development activities.
• Provide coaching and support to junior members of the team.
