Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager Audit in Cardiff to oversee audits and support the delivery of client services within a leading professional services firm. The role emphasizes high-quality outcomes, risk-aware planning and effective team leadership.

You will lead audits from planning to completion, review financial statements under UK GAAP/IFRS, coach junior staff and nurture key client relationships while ensuring timely, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
• Experience auditing within the professional services sector
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and regulations
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Organised and detail-oriented with good time management
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Design and perform audit procedures in line with ISAs and firm methodology.
• Identify, assess and document audit risks with professional scepticism.
• Review financial statements for compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Supervise, coach and develop junior team members with ongoing feedback.
• Review work and ensure high-quality audit documentation.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as day-to-day contact.
• Support audit planning activities, including scheduling and resource allocation.
• Monitor budgets, timescales and engagement progress; escalate issues.
• Coordinate with specialists to ensure efficient delivery of audits.
• Prepare client deliverables including audit planning and findings reports.
• Stay updated with accounting/audit/regulatory changes and communicate them to clients.
