Job summary

AAB in Dungannon is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager to lead high-quality audit and assurance work from planning through to completion. You will supervise and coach junior team members, manage a portfolio of clients, and build lasting relationships with stakeholders.

This permanent, hybrid role offers structured training, professional accreditation support, and a collaborative environment within a growing team committed to delivering excellent client service.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing audit assignments and client portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of auditing, accounting, and financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support management and development of audit clients, delivering high-quality service.
  • Build client relationships through effective communication.
  • Plan, execute and complete audit assignments within deadlines and budgets.
  • Coach and develop junior team members with ongoing feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and firm procedures.
  • Identify audit findings and risks, discuss with managers and partners as appropriate.
  • Contribute to tenders, proposals and business development activities.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through CPD and regulatory developments.
  • Collaborate across teams with accountability and initiative.

ROLE PURPOSE

Audit Assistant Manager

You will apply your technical knowledge and experience to deliver high-quality audit and assurance assignments from planning through to completion. You will demonstrate strong people management skills, including effective delegation, coaching and support of team members, while building lasting client relationships and contributing to the growth and development of the firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious audit professional to develop their leadership, technical and client management skills within a collaborative and growing team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in supporting the management and development of a portfolio of audit and assurance clients, delivering a high-quality and proactive service.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and responsiveness.
  • Assist in the planning, execution and completion of audit assignments, ensuring deadlines and budgets are achieved.
  • Supervise, coach and develop junior team members, providing ongoing support and feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements and the firm's quality management procedures.
  • Identify, assess and communicate audit findings, risks and recommendations, consulting with managers, directors and partners on technical, risk and client service matters as appropriate.
  • Contribute to tenders, proposals and business development activities, identifying opportunities to enhance and expand existing client relationships.
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge through continuous professional development and awareness of regulatory developments.
  • Work collaboratively across teams while demonstrating initiative, accountability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Experience & qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Experience managing audit assignments and supporting the development of a client portfolio.
  • Strong technical knowledge of auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and reviewing the work of junior team members.
  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality client service.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with owner-managed businesses, public sector bodies and/or regulated entities.
  • Experience using CaseWare, Inflo or similar audit and practice management software.
  • Experience contributing to business development activities, including tenders, proposals or networking initiatives.

Professional qualifications and education

  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with relevant audit and assurance experience.
