Job Description
- Lead audit engagements for clients across various industries, managing the entire audit cycle
- Plan and execute audit procedures according to firm methodology and regulatory requirements
- Identify financial reporting risks and evaluate internal control systems
- Prepare and review audit working papers, ensuring documentation meets quality standards
- Develop audit findings and recommendations for clients' management
- Draft detailed audit reports and present results to clients
- Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, delegating tasks and providing guidance
- Review financial statements for compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP)
- Prepare accounts for smaller clients when required, supporting the primary audit focus
- Maintain client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services
- Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure profitable engagement delivery
- Stay current with accounting standards, audit regulations, and industry developments
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather information and discuss complex accounting issues
- Collaborate with tax and advisory specialists to provide comprehensive client solutions
- Contribute to practice development through technical knowledge sharing and process improvement
The Successful Applicant
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with substantial external audit experience
- Proven ability to lead full audit cycles independently from planning to completion
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP) and audit regulations
- Experience supervising and developing junior audit staff
- Excellent client relationship management skills
- Ability to identify financial reporting risks and evaluate internal controls
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Effective time management and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Clear communication skills for presenting findings to clients
- Experience in accounts preparation to support secondary aspects of the role
- Adaptable approach suited to a growing firm expanding into a new market
- Knowledge of industry-specific audit requirements and reporting frameworks
