Your Opportunity
Have you ever been intrigued by the inner workings of the OR? Do you enjoy an environment where teamwork and communication are pivotal? Do you have a deep desire to be instrumental in the surgical patient’s journey? Well, we have the opportunity for you. We are looking for a bright, able-bodied team member to be a Service Attendant in the Surgical Suite at the Grey Nuns OR. Your role will include transportation, transferring, positioning of patients including those with a high BMI, and assisting with patient prepping. Responsibilities also include bed setup to match booked cases, room setup with pertinent equipment, stocking supplies and linen, cleaning OR theatres between cases, maintaining a clean environment outside the OR theatre including garbage removal, and ensuring awareness and compliance with Covenant Health policies/SOPs and isolation procedures.
Description
The Attendant supports the department by performing tasks such as stocking, restocking, cleaning, and portering of equipment, supplies, and patients. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 required.
Additional Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12, Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C), experience in patient care/interaction, hospital portering experience, physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment, understanding of infection control and aseptic techniques, good command of English, interpersonal skills, ability to work shifts including weekends, and PPE compliance.
Preferred Qualifications: Operating room experience, medical terminology, and HSA course completion.
