Job summary

Wednesbury Oak Academy (SIPS) is seeking an Attendance Officer to join our dedicated team. You will monitor attendance, support families and contribute to improving pupils' life chances.

The role requires safeguarding awareness, IT skills and the ability to work with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies. This is a 37-hour week, term-time plus 1 week, with an emphasis on proactive attendance work.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with and supporting families.
• Proactive safeguarding and improving attendance.
• Confident communication with children, parents, staff and external agencies.
• Organised and efficient with IT systems and school databases.
• Understands challenges facing children and families today.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and analysing attendance data.
• Following up absences and working with families to improve attendance.
• Coordinating attendance interventions, meetings and home visits.
• Producing attendance reports for leaders and governors.
• Managing statutory attendance processes, including penalty notices and census returns.
• Tracking vulnerable pupils and working with safeguarding and pastoral teams.
• Supporting development and implementation of attendance policies and procedures.
