A highly successful school on the Wirral is seeking a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to join its dedicated pastoral and administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong communication skills who is passionate about supporting pupils, building positive relationships with families and improving attendance across the school.
The successful candidate will monitor pupil attendance, follow up on absences and work closely with families and school staff to identify and address barriers to regular attendance. You will play an important role in helping pupils engage consistently with their education while ensuring attendance records and reporting procedures remain accurate and up to date.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring daily attendance and maintaining accurate pupil records.
Contacting parents and carers regarding unexplained absences.
Identifying patterns of absence and persistent non-attendance.
Working with pastoral teams to implement attendance support strategies.
Preparing attendance reports and updating school management systems.
Liaising with external agencies where appropriate.
Handling confidential information professionally and sensitively.
Previous experience in attendance, school administration or pastoral support.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Confidence using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
A proactive, patient and professional approach to working with families.
