As Attendance Officer, you will monitor and promote pupil attendance, follow up on unexplained absences and work closely with staff and families to identify and address barriers to regular attendance. You will play an important role in supporting the school's pastoral provision and ensuring pupils are able to access their education consistently.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring daily attendance, registers and absence records.
Contacting parents and carers to investigate unexplained absences.
Identifying patterns of absence and raising concerns with relevant staff.
Supporting attendance meetings and targeted improvement plans.
Producing reports and maintaining accurate school records.
Liaising with pastoral teams and external agencies where appropriate.
Handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
Experience in attendance, school administration, pastoral support or a similar role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
Confidence using databases and standard IT systems.
A proactive and understanding approach when working with families.
Ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines.
A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
