Job summary

The Arthur Terry School is seeking an Attendance Officer to join our dedicated pastoral team. You will focus on improving attendance and student wellbeing by monitoring data, engaging with families and external agencies, and supporting safeguarding across the school.

We value proactive, detail-oriented individuals who communicate well and can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. This role offers a rewarding way to positively impact young people’s educational outcomes

Qualifications

  • Experience in a school, education, or customer-focused environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient with MIS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Proactive and resilient, able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and report attendance data accurately and effectively.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies to support attendance.
  • Support safeguarding and promote welfare of children and young people.
  • Collaborate with pastoral, safeguarding and leadership teams to improve attendance outcomes.
  • Identify and address barriers to regular attendance.
  • Contribute to a supportive, well-organised student support team.

Job description

The Arthur Terry School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, proactive, and highly organised Attendance Officer to join our committed pastoral team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting student success and wellbeing through excellent attendance and engagement. We are looking for an Attendance Officer who:

  1. Has a strong commitment to improving student attendance and educational outcomes
  2. Builds positive relationships with students, families, and external agencies to support regular school attendance
  3. Monitors, analyses, and reports on attendance data accurately and effectively
  4. Works proactively to identify and address barriers to attendance
  5. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  6. Works collaboratively with pastoral, safeguarding, and leadership teams to support student success
