Job summary

Cottenham Village College in Cambridge is seeking an Attendance Officer to lead attendance and punctuality improvements across the academy. The role involves working with scholars, families and staff to develop effective attendance systems, challenge absence and ensure every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

The post requires resilience, excellent communication and a commitment to safeguarding, with a 37-hour week during term time, permanent contract and ASAP start.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pupils and families in an educational setting.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of young people.
• Good ICT skills and experience with attendance data and MIS.

Responsibilities

• Drive improvements in attendance and punctuality across the school.
• Monitor attendance data and identify trends and persistent absence.
• Work with scholars, families and staff to improve attendance levels.
• Contact parents and carers regarding attendance concerns.
• Maintain accurate attendance records on the school's MIS.
• Prepare attendance correspondence and support related meetings.
• Contribute to attendance support plans and monitor effectiveness.
• Liaise with senior leaders, safeguarding teams and other stakeholders.
• Produce attendance reports and maintain records of interventions.
• Ensure registers are completed accurately and follow up on missing marks.
