Job summary

European Space Agency is seeking a Climate Application Scientist specialised in satellite remote sensing of the atmosphere. You will lead a portfolio within the Actionable Climate Information Section on climate data records and related Earth Observation projects.

The role involves coordinating with international climate research communities and contributing to ESA's climate science outputs, including UNFCCC reporting and global stocktake activities.

Qualifications

• PhD in satellite-based monitoring of atmospheric physics/chemistry.
• 4+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of climate research, especially atmosphere interactions with Earth's surface.
• Experience with major international initiatives in Earth observation and climate research.

Responsibilities

• Deriving technical specifications for EO-based information related to atmosphere and climate users.
• Engaging with climate user communities to assess needs and feedback on EO data.
• Initiating and overseeing ESA R&D projects to enhance climate data records and applications.
• Validating developments with climate users and promoting EO data use in science, services and policy.
