Job summary

Jobtailor, Glasgow, seeks an experienced planning professional to lead a broad range of planning applications and provide strategic guidance to private sector clients. You will manage client relationships, drive business growth, and mentor junior staff across AtkinsRéalis or client offices as required.

The role focuses on delivering planning strategy from inception through to delivery, with a strong emphasis on leadership, communication, and the ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.

Qualifications

• MRTPI qualification with significant post‑qualification experience.
• Chartered status.
• Proven experience in a planning consultancy environment or similar.
• Strong technical knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and client management skills.
• Leadership experience and ability to lead and inspire teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
• Flexibility to work from AtkinsRéalis or client offices as needed.

• Leading and managing a broad range of planning applications and associated supporting documents for a wide range development projects
• Providing strategic planning advice to a varied private sector client base
• Providing advice and planning strategy from inception to final delivery
• Managing key client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor
• Identifying and securing new business opportunities and supporting the continued growth of the consultancy
• Representing clients at meetings, hearings, and public consultations where required
• Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level planning professionals

Requirements
