Job Description:

Hydrock is recruiting an Associate Sustainability Consultant to join our influential Smart Energy and Sustainability team. You will contribute to developing and delivering complex projects, working with clients such as local authorities, universities, masterplan developers, and asset managers to promote decarbonisation and climate resilience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with client teams on sustainable design and energy reduction initiatives, hosting workshops, and attending meetings.
  • Identifying impactful decision-making areas and value drivers.
  • Preparing high-quality reports on energy, sustainability, and climate change for clients and project teams, supporting planning applications.
  • Managing data effectively, including maintaining project databases and calculations.
  • Participating in external forums to advance environmental performance quantification standards.
  • Training junior team members and contributing to regional business development.
  • Developing expertise in environmental modelling and building physics.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • A relevant degree such as BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) or equivalent.
  • Experience as a consultant in project delivery, client engagement, and project management.
  • Understanding of building environmental design and sustainability practices.
  • Experience with environmental modelling tools like IES, Radiance, ApacheSIM, SBEM, Macroflow.
  • Knowledge of planning policies, particularly GLA requirements, and experience with master planning across asset classes.

Additional attributes that are advantageous:

  • Chartership or membership in relevant institutions (e.g., RITP, RIBA, EI, IEMA).
  • Knowledge of climate risk assessment, biodiversity net gain, and renewables sector.
