Job summary

Ramboll in the United Kingdom is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer to join the UK Healthcare Team. You will manage client liaison, oversee projects from concept to delivery, and contribute to sustainable design across hospital projects in the UK and beyond.

The role offers flexible working arrangements, with office and home-based options, and opportunities to develop professionally within Ramboll's global Healthcare Division, collaborating with leading engineers on high-profile facilities.

Qualifications

• Must have demonstratable experience with UK Healthcare sector projects, such as the building of hospitals within the UK
• Educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
• Have achieved Chartered Engineer status or have qualifications to support achieving Chartered Engineer status
• Excellent project management skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects of varying size/complexity
• To have an appreciation of project commercial and technical risks
• Experience of digital and parametric design
• Knowledge of assessment, retrofit and alteration of existing structures
• Knowledge of construction supervision, building investigation and structural testing
• Forward thinking about digital design innovation and 'smart design' in a digitised construction arena
• Excellent communicator capable of explaining complex technical concepts in plain language, verbally and in writing
• Able to motivate and inspire confidence both internally and externally across geographical borders
• Able to work autonomously on all technical aspects of the discipline

Responsibilities

• Support leadership and development of the team of Structural Engineers, within the UK Healthcare Team
• Manage your own projects
• Manage and undertake design work from concept through to detailed design ensuring technical excellence, always maintaining outstanding levels of client service
• Act in the capacity of structural engineering project manager, to allocate resource appropriately and co-ordinate the tasks so all deadlines are met
• Work as part of a team of Structural Engineers, frequently working with colleagues from other engineering disciplines, e.g. MEP, civils and geo-tech
• Raise the profile and reputation of the UK Healthcare Team
• Develop and oversee structural engineering concepts and design philosophies
• Liaise with clients and collaborators, representing Ramboll at project meetings
• Communicate designs to team members and construction sites
• Implement best practice procedures to enhance and maintain delivery of sustainable, zero carbon, innovative and quality advisory and design services
• Visit sites to support development of structural engineering designs or review contract works in progress
• Take an active role in technical groups and team meetings to support continuous improvement
• Take ownership and deliver on team improvement initiatives
