Job Description:

Associate Structural Design Engineer

RPS is seeking an experienced Associate Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures Team. Our Design Division delivers projects across sectors such as residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience our designs from concept through detailed drawings, leveraging expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression as a Structural Engineer within our reputable team. You will manage the full project lifecycle, oversee project finances, and lead a team of engineers, reporting to the Director of Structural Engineering.

Duties Include:

  • Assist in managing the structural engineering team
  • Manage projects and project teams independently
  • Handle financial responsibilities for projects
  • Prepare fee quotations and invoices
  • Manage staff and external consultants
  • Develop engineers and technicians
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and clients
  • Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repairs

Who we’re looking for: You should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, preferably be chartered or working towards chartership with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent.

Additionally, you will:

  • Be experienced in foundation, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber design to eurocodes
  • Have residential market experience, including traditional and framed structures
  • Possess commercial awareness, including financial management and client development
  • Be experienced in structural investigations for residential and commercial properties
  • Ideally have experience related to the ‘Building Safety Act’
  • Be familiar with Tekla (Tekla Designer, Tedds) and AutoCAD/Revit
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and management experience
  • Be decision-capable, motivated, autonomous, and innovative
