Job Description:

Associate Structural Design Engineer

RPS is seeking an experienced Associate Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures Team. Our Design Division delivers projects across sectors such as residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy, focusing on balancing sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. We leverage digitalisation to enhance project delivery from concept to completion, drawing on decades of expertise across industries and disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the structural engineering team alongside the Associate Director / Director
• Independently manage projects and project teams
• Handle financial responsibilities for your projects
• Prepare fee quotations and invoices
• Manage staff and external consultants
• Develop and mentor engineers and technicians
• Collaborate with stakeholders and clients
• Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repairs for issues such as fires and foundation problems

Candidate Profile:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent); chartered with ICE, IStructE, or progressing towards chartership
• Experience in designing foundations, masonry, concrete (including detailing), steel, and timber structures to Eurocodes
• Experience in residential construction, including traditional and framed structures
• Knowledge of financial management, client development, and project appointment processes
• Experience in structural investigations of residential and commercial properties, including compliance with the Building Safety Act
• Proficiency with Tekla (Tekla Designer and Tedds) and ideally AutoCAD/Revit
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• Motivated, autonomous, innovative
